Dialectics is a common term used in therapy, particularly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to help address the deep internal tensions and conflicts that occur in people with Borderline Personality Disorder and in many other situations of tension, complex trauma, PTSD, and anxiety. Though it can be difficult to understand, this handout will explain what the concept of dialectics is all about and provide examples of how it can be applied in life situations.
